During this month of celebration, American Legion Family members are encouraged to show their local communities our dedication to young people by hosting youth activities or by becoming involved in programs and organizations that support young people. Be the One Day

On the first day of every month, Legion Family members are encouraged to wear a Be the One item to show their commitment to reducing the stigma around mental health issues among veterans and servicemembers. And to start a conversation about what Be the One is and how to save the life of a veteran. Legion posts should also promote Be the One on the first day of every month. Visit legion.org/betheone

Legacy Scholarship applications due

American Legion Legacy Scholarship application for 2024 is online. Click here for information on the American Legion Legacy Scholarship. The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is available to children whose parents died while honorably serving on active military duty on or after 9/11, as well as children of post-9/11 veterans with a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or higher.

95% Membership Target Date

This target date is worth 9,500 points for meeting the 95% target (not including DMS totals). Transmittals must be received and fully processed at National Headquarters during normal business hours on or before the April target date.

American Legion Family Day

The National Executive Committee passed Resolution No. 7, American Legion Family Day at its Fall Meeting in October 2022. The resolution established an American Legion Family Day to be observed annually on the last Saturday of April.

Training Tuesday on Be the One

As part of The American Legion's Be the One mission to end veteran suicide, we have joined forces with Columbia University to develop training for those who want to learn more about interacting and responding with veterans who may be in crisis. The training will be held April 30 at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
