Rising country stars Parmalee to perform for Legion World Series teams

American country band Parmalee will perform during the American Legion World Series Host City Welcome on Aug. 15, in Shelby, N.C.

The Host City Welcome is Shelby’s official welcome to the eight teams that will compete in the 2018 Legion World Series at Keeter Stadium Aug. 16-21.

“When we launched the Host City Welcome in 2017, we were so pleased with the response from the players, their parents, national officials and the community that we wanted to continue the event,” said Eddie Holbrook, chairman of the local ALWS committee. “We believe the players will enjoy the music by this up-and-coming band and their work so far makes them top-quality entertainment for our audience.”

The four members of Parmalee are brothers Matt Thomas (lead vocals and guitar) and Scott Thomas (drums), cousin Barry Knox (bass), and family friend Josh McSwain (guitar), a native of Shelby. The brothers began playing in their father’s band when they were teenagers then formed Parmalee and started touring in 2001, spending years performing hundreds of dates all over the country.

Their popular singles include “Musta Had a Good Time,” “Already Callin’ You Mine” (No. 10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart), “Close Your Eyes” (No. 4 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart) and “Carolina,” which became a Platinum-certified No. 1 hit.
