WASHINGTON (June 24, 2009) - The national commander of The American Legion says he is greatly encouraged by the swiftness of bipartisan action taken by members of the U.S. House of Representatives to assure timely enactment of several pieces of legislation important to the interests of America's military veterans.
WASHINGTON - An immediate overhaul of the Department of Veterans Affairs disability claims processing system is the only way out of a fast-growing nationwide backlog of unresolved cases, American Legion National Commander David K. Rehbein said after a congressional hearing last Thursday evening.
WASHINGTON (June 17, 2009) - The national commander of the nation's largest veterans service organization is expressing outrage at continuing instances of VA medical personnel exposing their patients to infectious diseases.
WASHINGTON -- The American Legion has delivered letters of appreciation to congressional leaders and President Barack Obama for their assertive efforts to pass an emergency wartime spending bill.
"Although The American Legion does not believe that the United States has anything to apologize for, we appreciate the spirit of President Obama's call for what he termed a ‘new beginning' in our relationship with the followers of Islam," said David K. Rehbein, national commander of the nation's largest veterans service organization.

The National Public Relations division promotes and publicizes projects, programs and accomplishments of The American Legion. Led by the National Public Relations Commission, the PR team is dedicated to fostering the philosophies and programs of the American Legion by:

The public relations staff consists of a public relations director, communications director, Washington-based media relations manager, audiovisual manager, Internet content manager, graphics designer, and administrative assistant.
The Public Relations Division produces national materials for the intended use by departments and posts in a variety of special campaigns and programs.
