Edward Frank Cartier
Conway, S.C.

Edward Frank Cartier of Post 430 (Department of New Jersey) passed away Sept. 23 at age 81. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Cartier served in several department positions, including department commander from 1991 to 1992.

 

John H. Fritts
Allenspark, Colo.

John H. Fritts of Post 96 (Department of Colorado) passed away Oct, 1 at age 83. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Fritts served in several department positions, including department commander from 1978 to 1979. He also served as National Distinguished Guests Committee vice chairman from 1975 to 1976, National Americanism Council vice chairman from 1976 to 1978 and 1980 to 1981, and National & Homeland Security Council vice chairman from 1989 to 1990.

He was a member of the National Distinguished Guests Committee from 1961 to 1967, the National Legislative Council from 1979 to 1980, the National Americanism Commission from 1981 to 1984 and the National Public Relations Commission from 1992 to 1994.

John E. Hein
Hopewell, N.J.

John E. Hein of Post 293 (Department of New Jersey) passed away July 31 at age 84. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Mr. Hein served in several department positions, including department commander from 1984 to 1985. He was a member of the National Law & Order Committee from 1977 to 1978, and the National Veterans Preference Committee from 1978 to 1979.

 

David R. McEvers
Leslie, Mich.

David R. McEvers of Post 491 (Department of Michigan) passed away Oct. 5 at age 59. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

Mr. McEvers served in several department positions and also served as National American Legion Endowment Fund Corporation director from 2002 to 2006.

He was a member of the National American Legion Endowment Fund Corporation from 2001 to 2002, the National Internal Affairs Commission from 1998 to 2006 and the National Legislative Council from 2001 to 2007.
